BABSON PARK, Fla. (January 29, 2025) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team notched another victory on Wednesday evening against Webber International University thanks to a second-half surge. The Bobcats were trailing at the halftime break, but managed to take back the lead, defeating the Warriors by nearly 20 points, 78-59.
The battle was close from the tip, but the Bobcats held the lead at the end of the first, 17-15.
Jaliyah Weekes had a standout first quarter with eight points in favor of the Bobcats.
Maddie Scharrenberg also started her scoring run, picking up five points. Scharrenberg added six points in the second quarter while
Katrina Litte and
Madison Lippy each picked up three. The Bobcats trailed by one point heading into halftime, 30-31.
The Bobcats had a solid third quarter, picking up 23 points to the Warriors' 17. Scharrenberg added another eight points, going 4-5 in field goals. Lippy also added five points to the tally, while
Katrina Litte,
Joey Delancy, and
Amber Louis each picked up a three.
St. Thomas went on to score 25 points in the final quarter, holding the Warriors to only 11 points. Delancy notched an impressive 12 points and four rebounds in the final quarter, finishing the game with a double-double performance with 11 rebounds and 16 points. Scharrenberg added four more points, leading the pack for the Bobcats with 23 total points. STU went 64.3% from the field in the final quarter, pulling out the win against Webber, 78-59.
This win brings the Bobcats' overall record to 14-6 and 8-2 in Sun Conference play. Up next the Bobcats will host College of Coastal Georgia on Saturday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m.
