Following successful 2024 campaigns, the St. Thomas University Football Team's
Nicholas Engler and
Rontavious Farmer were both recognized by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Associated Press, Victory Sports Network and Walter Camp Football Foundation with All-American honors while
David Hayes (three),
Caleb Walker (two),
Kendall Wilson II (two) and
Zachary Alvarez (one) all earned All-American status.
The 2024 Sun Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year, Engler was named a consensus All-American with First Team honors from all four organizations after finishing his final season with 31 tackles, 12 going for a combined 56 yards lost on top of seven sacks for 44 yards with six QB hurries, five broken up passes and one interception.
The first and only running back from a college in Florida from any level to surpass 5,000 career rushing yards, Farmer ended his illustrious collegiate career as a consensus All-American with two First Team nods (Walter Camp, Victory Sports Network) and two Second Team selections (AP News, AFCA). Farmer helped the Bobcats boast one of the most explosive offenses in the NAIA this past fall, averaging the seventh-most points in the country (43.9 points) with the 20th-most yards (4,743), after leading the league in rushing yards per game behind a 138.91 rate. He eclipsed 200 rushing yards on three occasions in 2024, including in back-to-back games at Thomas University and against Warner to close out the regular season, while scoring 18 touchdowns that ranked seventh in the NAIA.
The 2024 Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Hayes garnered First-Team status from Victory Sports Network and Second-Team honors from the AP News and AFCA after becoming the first Bobcat to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards with 1,115, eighth-most in the NAIA, behind a 101.4 per-game average that ranked seventh. He surpassed triple digit receiving yards in seven games and caught at least one touchdown in nine contests, finishing the season with 16 TDS which ranked third in the NAIA.
A 2024 All-Sun Conference First-Team selection,
Caleb Walker garnered Second-Team distinction from the AP News and Honorable Mention by Victory Sports Network. Walker helped STU boast the most defensive touchdowns (eight) and third-most interceptions (21) behind six interceptions which tied for third with two being returned for touchdowns which tied for second.
The 2024 Sun Conference Linebacker of the Year, Wilson received First-Team accolades from Victory Sports Network along with a Second-Team nod from the AFCA. Wilson anchored the Bobcats' defense behind 98 tackles, 16th-most in the NAIA, with 14.5 for loss. He added a pair of interceptions with both being returned for touchdowns which tied for the second-most in the country.
A 2024 All-Sun Conference First Team honoree, Alvarez earned Honorable Mention from Victory Sports Network. Alvarez converted field goals at a 90% rate in 2024, tied for the 10th-best in the NAIA, while connecting on 47 extra points which sits 18th. He sent 78 kickoffs for 4,505 yards for an average of 57.8 yards.
STU concluded the 2024 campaign with a 9-2 overall record, earning a first-round bye in the 2024 NAIA Championship.
