MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The St. Thomas University Bobcats (STU) delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Ave Maria University Gyrenes (AMU) 59–0 in a one-sided affair. From the opening drive, the Bobcats controlled every facet of the game—offense, defense, and special teams—en route to their most dominant win of the season.
Quarterback Keely Watson set the tone early, connecting with David Hayes on a 38-yard touchdown strike just over a minute into the first quarter. Watson continued his precision through the air, finding Jaelyn Thomas for a 24-yard touchdown midway through the first, followed by a short 4-yard scoring pass to Jaden Fox Harrington late in the quarter. By the end of the first, the Bobcats had built a commanding 21–0 lead.
The ground game took over in the second quarter as Dreylan Martin punched in two rushing touchdowns, one from 2 yards and another from 7 yards out, to extend the margin. Jaelyn Thomas also made his presence felt on special teams, returning a punt 45 yards for a touchdown to cap off an electric first half that saw St. Thomas ahead 42–0 at the break.
The Bobcats showed no signs of slowing down in the second half. Kicker Zach Alvarez added a 34-yard field goal early in the third quarter, maintaining his perfect day on extra points as well. Watson then connected once more with Hayes for a 30-yard touchdown before closing the third with a 10-yard scoring pass to Isaiah Lopez, sealing the 59–0 rout.
Watson finished the day with a total of five touchdown passes, spreading the ball efficiently across multiple receivers. The Bobcat defense was equally impressive, pitching a shutout and forcing multiple three-and-outs, while the special teams unit contributed directly to the scoring.
With the victory, St. Thomas improves its record to 3-1.
The Bobcats will be on the road next Saturday, October 11 aa they take on Warner University.
