Women's Volleyball Concludes Road Schedule With 3-0 Sweep Of Ave Maria

Ave Maria, Fla. – Hitting the road for the final time during the 2025 regular season on Wednesday evening, the 14th ranked St. Thomas University Women's Volleyball Team swept Ave Maria University (25-12, 25-10, 25-21).

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • The Bobcats overcame an early 3-2 deficit in the first set behind four-straight points and kept the lead for the rest of the frame, creating a double-digit separation at 19-9.
  • After splitting the initial eight points of the second set, the Bobcats fired off 11-straight to quickly create a 15-4 score.
  • Trailing late in the third set at 19-18, the Bobcats flipped the one-point lead behind back-to-back points with the two sides exchanging points before STU ended the match on a 4-0 run.
 
NOTEWORTHY:
  • Raya Mlyakova boasted paced the offense behind eight kills on a .462 hitting percentage while adding two assisted blocks.
  • Tayla Barnes added seven kills on a .462 hitting percentage alongside five assisted blocks and two solo blocks.
  • Payton Bertke dished 29 assisted with 11 digs for a double-double.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Bobcats ended the match with 37 kills on a .337 hitting percentage, Ave Maria tallied 28 on a .028 clip.
  • STU served seven aces while the host logged two.
  • St. Thomas recorded three solo blocks and 18 assisted blocks versus one assisted and four assisted for Ave Maria.
  • The Bobcats held a 46-34 advantage in digs
