Women's Basketball Upended By Ozarks 88-65

Miami Gardens Fla. – Wrapping up a six-day stretch that featured three opponents with winning records on Thursday afternoon, the St. Thomas University Women's Basketball Team dropped an 88-65 decision to the College of the Ozarks. 
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Neither side connected on consecutive baskets for the majority of a back-and-forth first quarter until a pair of jumpers by the Ozarks gave them a 13-12 lead with 1:51 remaining in the frame. The teams ended the opening 10 minutes in a 17-17 standstill. 

  • Fueled by six three pointers, the visitors ended the half leading STU 43-25. 

  • STU cut into the deficit behind a 6-0 run midway through the third quarter but were held without another run for the rest of the stanza. 

  • The Ozarks responded to a Bobcats' triple to start the final frame with seven-straight points to take a 76-53 lead and kept the advantage above 18 for the rest of the game. 


NOTEWORTHY: 

  • Serei McGill paced the offense behind 12 points while adding six rebounds. 

  • Isabella Riverra pulled down eight rebounds on top of two blocks. 

  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • STU went 25-52 from the field, 9-18 from beyond the arc and 6-11 from the free throw line. Ozarks went 34-58, 11-18 from three-point range and 9-18 from the free throw line. 

  • STU held a 29-27 advantage in rebounds. 

  • The Bobcats forced 12 turnovers, resulting in 16 points. The visitors scored 22 points off 21 turnovers. 

  • STU recorded seven steals and two blocks versus 15 steals and one block for the Wildcats.

The Bobcats play their final game of 2025 on Tuesday, Dec. 30 against Trinity College with tip-off slated for 2 pm.
