MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 13, 2025) - The #19 St. Thomas University (STU) Softball team faced off against
Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Wednesday evening in a doubleheader meeting at the Colonel. The Bobcats had two great showings, defeating the Eagles 19-2 and 4-2, bring their overall record to 4-0.
Game One: St. Thomas 19, Oklahoma Wesleyan 2 - 5 Innings
- Oklahoma Wesleyan was the first to score, putting up one run in the first.
- The Bobcats quickly responded with Natalie Kopicova, Mya Achenbach, Anna Toon, and Bianca Palacios each adding a run in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 4-1.
- The Eagles responded with one run in the top of the second.
- The Bobcats went on to have major success in the second and third innings, putting up eight runs in the second and six runs in the third.Â
- Isabella Andujar, Achenbach, Kopicova and Toon each notched two hits in the game.
- Toon earned the victory for game, bringing her record to 2-0.
- The Bobcats ultimately defeated the Eagles 19-2 in five innings
Game Two: St. Thomas 4, Oklahoma Wesleyan 2
- Oklahoma Wesleyan was once again on the board first, with a home run to center field bringing in two runs.Â
- The Bobcats responded with a run in the bottom of the first when Gabriella Gilbert doubled, advancing Andujar and scoring Achenbach.
- STU tied it up in the third with a homer from Achenbach to bring the score to 2-2
- St. Thomas took the lead in the fourth when Bre'Asia Thomas reached first on a fielder's choice to third base, advancing to third on an error. Although Gilbert was out at third, the error allowed Palacios to score, making the score 3-2.Â
- To secure the win, Kaitlynn Martinez singled up the middle, bring Thomas home.
- The Bobcats defeated the Eagles 4-2, bringing their record to 4-0.
- Anna Toon once again earned the win, bringing her record to 3-0 after seven innings pitched and 10 strikeouts in game two.
Up next, the Bobcats will host
Columbia International University on Thursday, February 20th at 4 and 6 p.m., then again on Saturday, February 22nd at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
