LAKE WALES, Fla. (February 12, 2025) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team faced off against
Warner University on Wednesday evening for their second meeting of the season. After a tough match, the Bobcats took home the win against the Royals, 67-57, bringing their overall record to 16-7 and Sun Conference record to 10-3.
The Bobcats took charge straight from the tip, doubling the score of the Royals in quarter one, 18-9.
Joey Delancy and
Maddie Scharrenberg kicked off the game hot, Delancy with six points and Scharrenberg with five in quarter one. The Bobcats went 60% in field goals in the second quarter, and 66.7% from beyond the arc.
Katrina Litte began her run, adding five points. Despite their accuracy, the Royals managed to mount a comeback, outscoring STU 24-15 in quarter two. This tied the score up at the half, 33-33.
The game remained tight in the third quarter, the Bobcats outscoring the Royals by only four points, 15-11.
Sophie Vandyke added four points in the third, contributing to her double-double performance of 10 points and 11 rebounds. St. Thomas ultimately took home the win against Warner, 67-57. Four Bobcats scored in the double figures: Litte with 15, Delancy with 14, Scharrenberg with 11, and Vandyke 10.
Up next, the Bobcats will face off against
Florida Memorial University for round two of the Battle of Miami Gardens. The game will take place at FMU on Saturday, February 15th at 2:00 p.m.
