In a transformational strategic partnership for St. Thomas University (STU), JetBlue Airways announced STU as one of its preferred university partners. The partnership provides exclusive travel benefits and discounts for STU athletic teams and extends to group travel for academic and experiential learning programs.
"This particular partnership comes at the right time for our university as we continue to establish and build authentic relationships with pillar organizations in our community," said
Michael Mominey, Interim Vice President for Philanthropy and Vice President for Athletic Revenue Generation & Strategy. "JetBlue is certainly one of those nationally recognized and respected companies whose mission and vision align very well with our university. As we continue to build for the future and pursue excellence, I couldn't think of a better partner than JetBlue."
The move aligns with JetBlue's recent commitment to South Florida, which includes increasing its daily departures from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport by 75% compared with the same period last year. This summer, JetBlue added nonstop daily service from Fort Lauderdale to Baltimore, Charlotte, Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago, and Ponce, Puerto Rico. New service to Indianapolis; San Diego; Columbus, Ohio; Cali and Barranquilla, Colombia; and Caracas, Venezuela, is set to begin in the coming months.
The STU Bobcats are in the midst of one of their most successful fall seasons in recent memory, with the football team undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) while the ninth-ranked women's volleyball team is within reach of its sixth consecutive Sun Conference regular-season title. Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams debut at No. 1 in the inaugural SwimCloud ratings, and the men's basketball team upset the defending NAIA Champions and preseason-ranked No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University in their second game of the season.
