Ave Maria, Fla.. – Kicking off the final week of the 2025-26 regular season with a road tilt at Ave Maria on Wednesday evening, the St. Thomas University Women's Basketball Team scored on their opening possession and never trailed in a 79-45 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After splitting the opening eight points of the contest, the Bobcats scored 10-straight to quickly create a double-digit advantage at 14-10 with 5:08 remaining in the first quarter. STU ended the opening quarter with a 29-10 advantage.
- The host created its first run of consecutive points midway through the second quarter behind a 6-0 spree that made it 33-17 with 3:10 remaining in the half, with the Bobcats heading into halftime ahead 46-24.
- St. Thomas kept the lead above 20 for the entire second half.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Jaliyah Weekes paced the Bobcats behind 17 points and six rebounds while adding two steals which tied for the team lead.
- Maddie Scharrenberg dished out four assists on top of 11 points and two steals.
- Sophia Taylor added 10 points on 4-4 shooting.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- STU went 29-62 from the field, 6-23 from beyond the arc and 15-18 from the free throw line. Ave Maria went 12-44, 6-20 from three and 15-27 from the free throw line.
- St. Thomas host held a 44-23 advantage in rebounds.
- The Bobcats forced 21 turnovers, resulting in 27 points. The host scored eight points off 16 turnovers.
- STU recorded 13 steals and one block versus five steals and two blocks for Ave Maria.
