Miami Gardens, Fla.. – Hosting conference-leader Southeastern University on Wednesday evening, the St. Thomas University Women's Basketball team went toe-to-toe with the Fire, battling to a tied score with 1:20 left to play in a 64-63 setback.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· Trailing 8-5 midway through the first quarter after a 6-0 SEU run, the Bobcats flipped the one-point lead behind back-to-back baskets only for Southeastern to hold a 12-11 after 10 minutes.
· The visitors countered a Bobcats' triple to start the second quarter with six-straight points to take an 18-14 lead, breaking aa 26-26 standstill late in the frame off a jump shot and triple back-to-back and countering a 4-0 STU run with a layup to hold a 33-30 lead at the break.
· St. Thomas reclaimed the lead off a 4-0 start to the third quarter with neither side creating a run greater than three until a pair of Bobcats' baskets back-to-back made it 45-43 in the final minute only for a Fire layup knotting the score heading into the final frame.
· The two sides traded baskets over the opening five minutes of the fourth quarter with neither side converting consecutive baskets until back-to-back SEU tallies made it 60-57 with 4:04 left to play. STU knotted the score at 62-all with 1:20 remaining before a Fire basket and one free throw for the host created the final score.
NOTEWORTHY:

Joey Delancy paced the offense behind 18 points and four assists.

Morgan Taylor added 10 points on top of six rebounds which tied for the team lead and two steals.
·
Isabella Rivera chipped in 11 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· STU went 25-55 from the field, 7-22 from beyond the arc and 6-12 from the free throw line. Southeastern went 28-61, 6-22 from three and 2-6 from the free throw line.
· The host held a 37-33 advantage in rebounds.
· The Bobcats forced 10 turnovers, resulting in 10 points. The Fire scored 19 points off 16 turnovers.
· STU recorded two steals and three blocks versus one steal and eight blocks for Southeastern.
