Men's Bowling Announces Six Signees

Miami Gardens, Fla. – Looking to build upon a strong inaugural season, St. Thomas University's Director of Bowling Operations John Michalenko and Head Coach Jim Porter Jr. announced the signings of Christian Cancio, Joshua Hickman, Immanuel Josma, Nathan Mondo, Alex Porter and Jorge Torres for the 2026-27 academic year.

"We are proud to announce the signing of multiple student-athletes who will be joining the STU Men's Bowling Team," Michalenko said. "These talented individuals have demonstrated outstanding dedication both academically and athletically, and we are excited to welcome them to our team.

Set to graduate from Miami Coral Park High School this spring, Cancio averaged 195 with a high game of 279 and high series of 721. A two-handed righty, he work on the lanes earned him two berths to the State Championships. Cancio plans to pursue a degree in Engineering at STU.

A native of South Chesterfield, Va., Hickman heads to Miami Gardens as the Mid-Atlantic Yourh Bowler Tour Champion, Team Challenge Doubles Champion, Trios Champion and the Danny Wiseman Doubles Champion twice. He holds a 232 average with a high game of 300 and series of 796. Hickman will be a Criminal Justice major at STU.

Joining the Bobcats from Terra Environmental Research Institute, Josma averaged 200 during his high school career with a high game of 28- and series of 673. The two-handed righty will study Engineering at STU.

A soon-to-be graduate of Fort Pierce Center High School, Mondo established himself as one of the top high school bowlers in the Sunshine State sitting in the top 10% of Florida. The two-time Varsity Captain averaged 225 with two sanctioned 300 games and a high series of 788 while qualifying for the Junior Gold series. He will major in Finance at STU.

A Cocoa, Fla., product, Porter led the Astronaut High School bowling team with a high game of 240 and 618 series, He will pursue a Business degree at STU.

Torres joins the Bobcats after leading Western High School to a District Championship en route to qualifying for Junior Gold and the Florida High School State Tournament. The two-handed righy averages 195 with a high series of 725 and a perfect 300 game under his belt. He will be majoring in Accounting at STU.
