WILLIAMSBURG, KY (SEPTEMBER 10, 2026) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Bobcats women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the University of the Cumberlands Patriots on Thursday.
Cumberlands opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Nicole Araujo found the back of the net at 36:35, giving the Patriots a 1-0 advantage. Laura Bosca was credited with the assist on Araujo's first goal of the season.
The Bobcats entered halftime trailing by one but continued to battle throughout the second half. STU recorded five total shots, including three on goal, while earning two corner kicks.
Cumberlands added an insurance goal late in the match when Letizia Traversone scored at 89:37. Wakana Ose provided the assist, giving the Patriots a two-goal cushion with less than a minute remaining in regulation.
The Bobcats finished the match with five shots, three of which were on target. Cumberlands recorded 12 shots with five on goal. Both teams finished with two corner kicks, while STU committed 10 fouls compared to 11 by the Patriots.
In goal, the Bobcats recorded three saves, all coming in the second half. Cumberlands also finished with three saves.
STU received cautions from Sierra Olivo in the 48th minute and Sophia Henke in the 67th minute.
The Bobcats will look to bounce back as they face Grace College on Saturday, September 12.Â
