MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The St. Thomas University Bobcats drop baseball game at home versus Barry University Buccaneers by a score of 17-2. The Bobcats have gotten off to a tough start but half of their first six games have been against NCAA DII competition. The loss dropped the Bobcats to 1-6 (1-2 in The Sun Conference).
The Bobcats gave up two runs in the top of the first inning, but they quickly responded back in the bottom of the first with a 2-run triple by
Nestor Rincon. From there the Bobcats were unable to produce anymore runs, whereas the Buccaneers slowly tacked on to their total and had a big third inning, scoring 7 runs.
Rincon went 1-2 with the triple, 2 RBI's, and a walk.
Manuel Rodriguez went 2-3 with a double, and
Kyle Radziewski went 2-4 and also had a double. Pitcher
Miguel Hernandez (0-1) took his first loss of the year giving up 8 hits and 9 runs in 2+ innings of work.
The Bobcats are looking to get themselves back into the win column on Thursday, February 12, against NOVA Southeastern University. It is a home game and will be played at Frank R. Esposito Field. Game time is set for 6:00 pm. This game is the first of 4 consecutive games the Bobcats will be playing against NOVA, as they also play a game at home Friday, and then a home double-header Saturday.
