MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The St. Thomas Bobcats drop 4 game series versus NOVA Southeastern University. The two played 4 games over 3 days playing the first of the series at NOVA, where NOVA won 21-3. The next 3 games where played at home where the Bobcats dropped the first 14-0 on Friday night. Saturday the Bobcats dropped the double header, losing the first game 16-15 and the second by a score of 12-1. This drops the Bobcats record to 1-9 overall (1-2 in The Sun Conference).
The first game of the series was a rough one for the Bobcats. Nova got out to a 10-0 lead before the Bobcats were able to get on the scoreboard.
Kyle Radziewski has himself a great game offensively going 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.
Marlon Pascual went 3-4 and scored 1 run. Pitcher
Nick Loden (0-1) took the loss only managing 3.2 innings of work and giving up 11 hits and 10 runs.
In the second game of the series, the Bobcats were shut down by NOVA pitcher Miles Mikolas, who pitched a complete game shutout and allowed only 3 hits.
Marlon Pascual was accountable for 2 of those hits going 2-3.
Danny Sanchez (1-1) took the loss for the Bobcats going 4.2 innings and allowed 14 hits and 9 earned runs.
The third game of the series saw the Bobcats explode offensively. The Bobcats had a 14-8 lead heading into the 8th inning but were unable to contain NOVA's offense and allowed 4 runs in each of the 8th and 9th innings before falling 16-15.
Kyle Radziewski went 3-4 with a home run, 3 RBI's, and 4 runs scored.
Nestor Rincon went 3-5 with 3 RBI's and 4 runs scored.
Ruy Rodriguez also went 3-5 and had 3 RBI's.
DePhillip Mason went 2-5 and batted in 3 runs.
Jose Mendoza went 5.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 7 runs (5 earned runs). Mendoza gave up 5 runs in the 1st inning then settled down nicely pitching 4 scoreless innings.
Wesely Morejon (0-1) took the loss giving up the go ahead run in the 9th on a throwing error by the infield.
The final game of the series was again dominated by NOVA pitching. This game was only 7 innings and NOVA pitcher Ricardo Martinez pitched all of the innings and allowed only 1 run and 4 hits.
Gregory Gomez broke up the shutout in the 7th inning getting a hit and bringing in
Anthony Angulo to score. Bobcats' pitcher
Jesus Blanco (0-2) took the loss going 6 innings and allowed only 7 hits but 12 runs (9 earned). Nova took the shortened game by a score of 12-1
The Bobcats are back on the field Wednesday, February 18 against Palm Beach Atlantic. The game is away and will be played at Palm Beach Gardens High School.
