Bobcats drop home game versus Florida Memorial

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The St. Thomas University Bobcats lose at home to Florida Memorial University on Tuesday by a score of 14-2. The loss drops the Bobcats overall record to 5-14 and 5-5 in The Sun Conference play. The Bobcats had beaten the Fighting Lions of Florida Memorial just over a week ago, but they pulled even on the season series to 1-1.

The Bobcats struggled offensively only mustering up 6 hits. Four of the hits came from two guys, Nestor Rincon and Gregory Gomez. Rincon went 2-3 with a double and a run scored and Gomez went 2-2 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and a walk. Both of the Bobcats runs were scored in the 7th inning when Jesse Fernandez grounded home Gomez and then Manuel Rodriguez singles home Rincon.

Pitcher Miguel Hernandez was credited for the loss. He pitched 2 innings and only allowed 3 hits, and allowed 3 runs but only 1 was earned. The Bobcats struggled against the Fighting Lions' starting pitcher L. Chambro who pitched 6 innings and allowed only 3 hits and no runs.

The Bobcats will take the field again Wednesday, March 4 against cross-town for Barry University. The game will be played at home and the game is set to begin at 6:00 pm.
