MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The St. Thomas University Bobcats lose series to the Embry-Riddle University Eagles 3-0. The Bobcats were shut down by the Eagles' pitching throughout the series, as they only managed 3 runs in the 3 games. The first two games of the series the Bobcats lost by a score of 3-1. The series finale was much of the same as the Bobcats fell 2-1. The losses drop the Bobcats overall record to 20-29 (10-11 in The Sun Conference).
In game one of the series, the Bobcats managed to get 7 hits off of the Eagles. JC Gil was the lone Bobcat with multiple hits as he went 2-2 with a RBI.
Oswaldo Troconis was the only run scored, as he was able to get on base with a hit and then driven in by Gil. Pitcher
Daylan Gil pitched a complete game. Gil pitched exceptional going 9 innings and allowing 3 runs on only 6 hits.
Game two of the series was much of the same for the Bobcats, as they only got 6 hits in this game.
DePhillip Mason and
Ruy Rodriguez were the lone Bobcats with 2+ hits. Mason went 2-4 with a RBI, plating
Alvaro Bastos. Rodriguez went 2-3.
Miguel Hernandez was credited with the loss for the Bobcats but pitched solid going 6 innings and allowing 3 runs on only 4 hits.
Robert Reina came in and pitched the final 3 innings and pitched well allowing no runs and 2 hits.
The third game was eerily similar to the first two as the Bobcats again only got 6 hits.
DePhillip Mason went 2-3 with the lone run scored as he was batted in by
Alvaro Bastos, who went 1-3 on the day.
Anthony Angulo went 2-2. The Bobcats got another good pitching performance in the game as
Andres Ibarz pitched a complete game 7 innings. Ibarz allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits.
The Bobcats have only one more conference series left in the regular season and that will take place next weekend at Northwood University. The Bobcats do have a game before then against NOVA Southeastern on Tuesday (April 21). The game is away and is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
