Game 1
Danny Sanchez Dominates
The Bobcats lead by a dominating effort from starting pitcher Danny Sanchez took game one of Saturday's doubleheader with a 6-5 victory. Sanchez pitched 8 and 2/3 in innings giving up 3 runs on four hits.
Through the first 8 innings Sanchez yielded 1 run on 1 hit but ran into trouble in the bottom of the 9th giving up 3 runs on 2 hits. Sanchez finished the game with 12 strikeouts before giving way to the bullpen. Andre Colon came on in relief to finish the ninth and earn the save for the Bobcats.
Offensively the Bobcats did most of their damage in the 5th and 6th innings and were lead by another Sanchez, Ozzy and his 2 hit 2 rbi game. The first four hitters in the Bobcats line up each earned at least 1 rbi in the victory. Ozzy Sanchez was able to provide the Bobcats with an important insurance run in the 9th doubling to right field earning his second rbi of the day.
Game 2
9th Inning Rally Comes Up Short
The roles were reversed in game 2 of the doubleheader with Warner having a pitcher dominate through 8 innings that almost lost it in the ninth. The Royals were able to hold on for a 7-6 win over the Bobcats.
The bats for the Bobcats were generally quite through 8 innings but they woke up in the 9th. The Bobcats were able to string together 5 runs on 3 hits but failed to bring home the tying run from 3rd base.
Dane Stone earned to loss for the Bobcats giving up 5 runs on 5 hits through just 3 innings.
The Bobcats return home to take on conference foe Northwood Tuesday at 5 pm. Go Bobcats!
