Ft. Meyers, Fl— The St Thomas Bobcats baseball team started The Sun Conference Tournament off on the right foot Tuesday afternoon as they took care of business against Webber International by a final of 4-1.  Danny Sanchez picked up the win for STU pitching a complete game scattering eight hits while striking out two batters.

The Bobcats got the afternoon started early as they were able to score in the top of the first inning.  In his first game since February 19th senior Oswaldo Troconis lead the game off with a single to right center followed by a stolen base to end up on second.  After a Kevin Mirabal single set up runners on the corners for STU he stole second which prompted a throwing error from the Webber shortstop that allowed Troconis to score and Mirabal to end up on third.  Mirabal would score the would be game-winning run on a Hector Bello sacrifice fly to center putting the Bobcats up 2-0.

The left side of the STU defense showed at the plate as Troconis (LF) went 2 for 4, Micahel De Jesus (SS) went 3 for 5 and Elio Rey (3B) went 3 for 4.

The Bobcats were able to add one run each in the fifth and eighth as Sanchez was able to hold on for the victory.  STU returns to action Wednesday night taking on SCAD at 7pm.  Good luck Bobcats.
