BOBCATS WIN CONFERENCE SERIES AT NORTHWOOD

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas baseball team returned home from a three-game series at Northwood this weekend with two wins to improve their 2012 record to 9-3.
St. Thomas won the first game of the Sun Conference series at Northwood on Friday afternoon by the score of 5-3.

The Bobcats split Saturday afternoon's doubleheader against the Seahwaks. STU won the early game 8-2 with starting pitcher Danny Sanchez earning the win. The Bobcats were then looking for the sweep in the second game of the day, but ultimately fell 12-11 to the Seahawks.

Offensively, center fielder Joel Capote continued his play, improving his batting average to .562 to go along with his 17 stolen bases in 12 games played. Against Northwood, he hit a combined 9-for-14 (.643) with three home runs, including two home runs in game three of the series.

The Bobcats return to action with a 6 p.m. home game vs. Lynn at Frank R. Esposito Stadium on the STU campus.
