MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas University baseball team continued its hot play with a two-game sweep of conference foe Warner in a doubleheader on Saturday. The wins improved the Bobcats to 22-5 (.815) overall and 8-3 (.727) in The Sun Conference. The Bobcats have won five straight and 13 of their last 15 games.
In the first game vs. Warner, Bobcat pitching recorded nine strikeouts and combined to allow just one earned run and seven hits. Freshman starting pitcher
Lazaro Sainz struck out seven and gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits over seven innings. Freshman right-handed reliever

Dane Stone came in to record his ninth save of the year.
In game two vs. Warner, the two teams traded leads several times before heading to the ninth inning with the score tied 5-5. After junior RHP Ashley Bullock shut down Royals in the top of the ninth, third baseman
Victor Madrazo doubled with one out. With two outs, DH
Hector Acosta hit a walk-off RBI single to right field to score Madrazo and give Stu the 6-5 victory.
STU returns to action Tuesday night with the first of three gaems vs. Doane College (Neb.). Conference play continues this weekend with a three-game home series vs. USC Beaufort.
