LAKELAND, Fla. -- The St. Thomas baseball team swept conference rival Southeastern in a three-game road series to improve its record to 31-9 overall and 14-6 in The Sun Conference.  STU's bats were alive over the weekend as the Bobcats totaled 27 runs on 43 hits in the three games.
 
Friday night's series opener turned out to be a thriller as St. Thomas had to battle back from a 7-4 deficit after five innings for the eventual 10-7, 10-inning win.  
Joel Capote hit an RBI-single in the sixth and 
Victor Madrazo drove in two runs with a double in the eighth to tie the score 7-7.  The game would remain tied heading into extra innings.  
Hector Bello would drive in three runs on a one-out double to put the game away 10-7.  STU's relief pitching came up huge as Ashley Bullock and 
Dane Stone combined for 5.2 shutout innings in relief of starter 
Lazaro Sainz.  Bullock and Stone would allow just three hits among the 20 batters they faced.  Stone earned the win as he allowed just one hit and struck out three with no walks over the final 2.1 innings.
 
The Bobcats built a comfortable 6-1 lead through three innings in game two of the series en route to a 8-3 win.  Madrazo and 
Antonio Sepulveda both hit RBI-doubles in the third.  
Danny Sanchez pitched seven innings allowing just one run on six hits to get the win.
 
St. Thomas went on to sweep the series with a 9-7 win in game three of the series highlighted by a home run by Sepulveda his fifth of the season, all coming in the last nine games.  Madrazo went 3-5 with two RBI, while Capote was 2-4 with two RBI.  Stone earned his 11
th save of the season as he pitched the final 1.2 innings without allowing a hit.
 
Next up for St. Thomas is a three-game home series vs. Embry-Riddle who lead the Bobcats by 2.5 games in The Sun Conference standings.  Game one will be Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
