BOBCATS FIGHT BACK TO BEAT FLOMO

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The 13th ranked Bobcats faced off with the Florida Memorial Lions tonight at  Paul Demie Mainieri Field at Frank R. Esposito Stadium.
 
The Bobcats opened the game scoring four runs on two hits and one error in the first inning. The first hit of the game to start the big inning came from Edwin Rolon who finished the game 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored.
 
The Lions fought back in the top of the third as Joseph Guzman managed to get a two-run homer, followed by a double by shortstop Daniel Morales to tie the game. In the bottom of the third, the Bobcats responded with one run to retake the lead 5-4.
 
In the top of the sixth, the Lions came back once again with another four-run inning that put STU behind 8-5 . The Bobcats responded in the bottom half of the sixth as catcher Fernando Escarra doubled following hits by Jerry Downs and Rolon to make the score 8-7 after six innings.
 
The Bobcats came back to tie and score the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the eight behind hits by Escarra and Adam Duarte.
 
In the top of the ninth, Ashley Bulluck closed out the game and earned the victory to improve his record to 2-0. Bulluck struck out the first two batters of the inning swinging, followed by a walk and a stolen base to second. The final Lions batter hit into a fielder's choice, as Bulluck threw out the Lion baserunner coming home, for the final out.
 
Witht the win the Bobcats improve to 21-6 overall on the season, while the Lions dropped to 5-22. The contest did not count as a Sun Conference game, but did count against overall records.
 
The Bobcats will return to the field this weekend for a series against Webber International University. The first game will be on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
