DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Heavy rain and lightning forced the umpires to call the day's final game after just five and a half frames, but not before Joshua Ruiz dazzled and the Bobcats took a 2-1 lead to split the doubleheader on Sunday.

In his first start of the season, Ruiz allowed just two hits and one run while striking out five. After issuing his only walk to the lead-off hitter in the bottom of the third, he retired nine straight ERAU batters before a rain delay ensued.

The Bobcats got on the board in the top of the second, with Edwin Rolon drawing the walk and advancing to third on a double to left-center by Oscar Romero. Brandon Canizares grounded out to second, scoring Rolon to tie the game at one.  A ground out to shortstop by Cesar Ramirez then brought Romero home from third to take the lead, 2-1.

The Bobcats would eventually go on to win after rain stopped the contest in the bottom of the 6th.

St. Thomas is now 31-15 overall and three games behind conference leader, Embry-Riddle.
