STU STARTING PITCHING, OFFENSE CONTINUES TO ROLL

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas won both games of a doubleheader vs. Warner on Saturday to sweep the three-game conference series and extend its winning streak to nine games. The Bobcats (14-1, 8-1 SUN) won game one of the twin billing 13-3, then completed the series sweep with a 13-2 win in the second contest.

Emilio Ogando (3-0) earned the win in the first game on Saturday striking out 10 batters and walking none while allowing three runs on seven hits in eighth innings of work. Through four starts this season, Ogando has 42 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched with just one walk.

Elim Perritte hit his third home run of the year in the third inning for the Bobcats to give STU a 2-1 lead. The Bobcats outscored the Royals 11-2, including an eight-run eighth inning, for the remainder of the contest. Center fielder Edwin Medina went 4-6 with three RBI to lead the charge for the Bobcats.

In the second game, Kyle Young (4-0) earned the win after allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out six and walking none. Offensively, Medina went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double, while designated hitter Oscar Aguirre, second baseman Michael Centeno and shortstop Brian Bermudez each drove in two runs as well. For the doubleheader, Medina went a combined 7-for-10 (.700) with six RBI.

The Bobcats return to action this Wednesday with a road game at Eckerd.
