MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – St. Thomas men's tennis took on Palm Beach Atlantic this weekend as a part of the College Showcase for the Delray Beach Open. The Bobcats fought hard but were edged out by the Sailfish 5-4.
Juan Bravo and
Matias Dasso continue to lead the way for STU, picking up victories in both doubles and singles competition.
Top doubles pairing of Bravo and
Grover Ordonez picked up their second win of the season with an 8-4 victory in Delray. While on court three, Dasso and
Arturo Romero won 8-4, notching their fourth doubles win of the season.
Heading into singles action the Bobcats held a narrow, 2-1 lead. Palm Beach Atlantic would eventually win four of six singles match ups, securing the win for the Sailfish. In the no. two singles match up, Bravo was pushed to a third set but came away with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory, his fourth of the season. On court six, Dasso was also locked in a heated three-set thriller. Neither player would give in the third set, but Dasso would grind out the 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 victory. This marks his second single victory of the season.
