Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Junior
Emilio Ogando pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout as St. Thomas defeated 13th ranked Embry-Riddle 8-0 in game one of a doubleheader Saturday to win the weekend series. Ogando (7-1) was masterful throughout the game, striking out eight while walking none and retiring the last 17 batters he faced.
The Bobcats gave Ogando plenty of run support, scoring in each of the first four innings en route to their eight runs on 12 hits. Five STU players had mulit-hit games with shortstop
Bryan Bermudez leading the way with a 3-5 game. Left fielder
Jerry Downs drove in a game-high three runs on two hits, while DH
Nico Hernandez went 2-3 including a two-RBI single in the third to go along with two stolen bases. Third baseman
Brandon Canizares went 2-4 with an RBI double, while center fielder
Edwin Medina went 2-4 with a double, three runs scored and two stolen bases.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Bobcats fell behind 4-0 then cut the lead to two runs in the bottom of the sixth. After surrendering a fifth run in the top of the seventh, St. Thomas tied the score at five runs as Downs hit an RBI single that scored Medina followed by a two-out, pinch hit single by
Cesar Ramirez that scored two more runs in the bottom of the frame. Following a scoreless eighth, Embry-Riddle scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth on an RBI-double by Kyle Chastain.
Embry-Riddle won the series finale, the second game of the doubleheader, 6-5.

Alex Perez started the finale for the Bobcats and pitched five innings allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks. Freshman lefty Brandon Valentine and senior
Fernando Escarra pitched in relief of Perez.
The Bobcats returns to action on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.
