LEWISTON, Idaho - The St. Thomas University Baseball team will begin play at the Avista-NAIA World Series on Friday night at app. 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) at Harris Field. In the first round of the tournament on Friday, the third seeded Bobcats (56-7) will face no. 6 seed and event host Lewis-Clark State (38-11) in a rematch of the 2015 NAIA World Series championship game.
The ten-team, double-elimination tournament continues through next week with the winner crowned on either Thursday, May 31 or Friday, June 1.
This year's St. Thomas University team, under the direction of Head Coach
Jorge Perez, has already broken the school records for most wins in a season (previous: 54 wins, 1998) and highest winning percentage (.889). As a team, STU leads the nation in runs scored, hits and RBI, while ranking second in the country in batting average and slugging percentage. Second baseman

With a win on Friday night, the Bobcats will advance in the Winner's Bracket to play on Monday, May 28 at 9:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. PT) against an opponent to be determined. With a loss on Friday, STU will play on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET (11:30 a.m. PT).
