#12 BOBCATS FALL IN SERIES FINALE TO NIGHTHAWKS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 27, 2021) - The No. 12 St. Thomas University (21-12, 9-3 TSC) dropped the series finale against the Thomas University Nighthawks (15-18, 4-8 TSC) 7-4 from Paul Demie Mainieri Field on Saturday afternoon from Paul Demie Mainieri Field.

Game Notes

  • Cabrera started the game by striking out four of the first six Nighthawks he faced, including the side in order in the top of the first.
  • Montesino and Rangel tallied singles in the bottom of the third inning, but STU was unable to capitalize, as the score remained 0-0 after three innings.
  • Thomas scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning, tallying five hits and taking a 2-0 lead.
  • Estevez scored the first run of the game for St. Thomas in the bottom of the fourth inning on a wild pitch.
  • TU extended the lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth.
  • Rivero tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth was his seventh home run of the season, bringing in Rangel.
  • The Nighthawks tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth inning, taking a 5-3 lead.
  • Fernando Medina entered in relief for STU in the top of the seventh inning, notching a strikeout.
  • Thomas extended their lead in the 7-3 in the top of the eighth inning with a two-run home run. 
  • The Bobcats loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning and scored two runs with a two-run single from Rangel, making the score 7-5.
  • TU batted around in the top of the ninth inning, totaling 10-runs on six hits, to take a 17-5 lead.
  • STU dropped the series finale against the Nighthawks 17-6.
