MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 31, 2023)- Baseball season is upon us here at St. Thomas University (STU), and the #8 Bobcats open up the season today at home against familiar foe, #25 Keiser University. 
 
The Bobcats faired well against the Seahawks in 2022, going 4-1 in the regular season. In the first meeting, STU couldn't get the bats moving, as Keiser went on to score eight times. After this loss at home, the Bobcats traveled up to West Palm and dominated for three straight games.
 
In the first game of the three-game series, STU scored thirteen runs for the win after going down six in the first inning. The second game, the Bobcats demolished KU, getting the mercy rule in seven innings and winning 19-0. And the third and final game of the three-game series, STU won again 7-6.
 
Nearing the end of the season, the two schools would meet again knowing they will meet in the Sun Conference tournament. The Seahawks wanted to prove they can beat the Bobcats and give them momentum nearing the postseason, but STU had other plans. Another onslaught of offense for the Bobcats would give them another demanding 10-4 win.
 
With all the momentum heading into the Sun Tournament, and already defeating Webber in game one, Keiser came out and shocked the Bobcats winning 9-1. One game later, the two teams would meet again with the Bobcats would take the win 6-5 in extra innings. 
 
Keiser already officially began their season, winning one and losing two in a series against Brewton-Parker. And STU played in two scrimmages in preparation for opening day. It's not very often you see a ranked matchup for opening day, but expect a good one.
