GAINESVILLE, Fla. (January 12, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Track and Field team participated in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday to kick off the Bobcats inaugural indoor season. The Bobcats had 14 competitors in the Women's portion of the meet.
Isabella Marty participated in the Women's 1 Mile, coming in 31st place with a time of 5:45.27. Marty also participated in the 3000m Run alongside Emily Holzer, who both finished the race within seconds of each other. Marty finished in 29th place with a time of 11:29.26 and Holzer finished in 32nd place with a time of 11:44.42.
The Bobcats had five competitors in the Women's Long Jump, led by Aaliyah Blot. Blot finished in 19th place, going 4.55m. Alexia Kornilov came next for the Bobcats, finishing in 21st place, going 4.29m. Kornilov was followed by LaKeisha Manning in 22nd place, Ashley Dervil in 23rd place, and Christian Pommells in 25th place. The Bobcats also had two competitors in the Women's Weight Throw. With a mighty throw of 11.64 meters, Rian Boub claimed the 13th place, showcasing her strength and skill in the arena. Right beside Boub in the rankings was Toynelle Ming, whose throw of 7.66 meters secured her the 14th place.
St. Thomas also participated in the 200m Dash, where eight competitors raced for the Bobcats. Leading the charge was Yamina Numan, whose run in the Women's 200m Dash clocked in at 26.39 seconds, earning her a commendable 10th place. Hot on Yamina's heels was Khila Darrisaw, whose dynamic run saw her secure 11th place with a timing of 26.85 seconds. Camille Barron, with a time of 27.62 seconds, claimed 13th place in the Women's 200m Dash. Manning secured 14th place with a time of 27.73 seconds.
Barron, Sandifer, and Wislande Pierre-Louis made their mark in the Women's 400m Dash. Barron clocked an impressive 1:04.24, securing 10th place, Sandifer claimed 15th place with a resilient run at 1:06.39, and Pierre-Louis secured 20th place with a time of 1:12.50. Numan, Barron, Manning, Darrisaw, and Dervil also participated in the Women's 1600m Relay, finishing 7th with an impressive time of 4:18.58.
