MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 28, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Track and Field team participated in the Sun Conference Championship over the weekend for the first time on their home turf. The Bobcats had a great performance at the meet, with six bronze, two silver, and three gold medals, finishing overall runner-up in the competition. 

In track events Khila Darrisaw sprinted her way to a bronze medal in the Women's 100 Meters Finals, crossing the finish line in 12.16 seconds. Wislande Pierre-Louis also secured a third-place finish in the Women's 400m Finals, finishing with a time of 59.20. In the Women's 10,000m Run, Emily Holzer earned her spot in the top three with a 42:09.83 finish, putting her in third. Emma DiVeronica dominated the Women's 100 Hurdles Finals, claiming gold with a time of 14.41 seconds. Both relay teams had top three finishes, with the Women's 4x100 team of Yamina Numan, Khila Darrisaw, Emma DiVeronica, LaKeisha Manning took third with a time of 48.00. The Women's 4x800 Relay team also had a stellar performance, with Isabella Marty, Wislande Pierre-Louis, Emily Holzer, Camille Barron crossing the finish line with a time of10:16.68, giving them the silver.

In field events, Davanna Collie showcased her javelin skills, securing the gold medal in the Women's Javelin event with a precise throw of 43.63 meters. Rian Boub also took the top three in the Women's Javelin,  with a distance of 40.68m giving her the bronze. Toynelle Ming earned two medals at the meet, a gold in the Women's Discus with a distance of 40.08m, and a bronze in the Women's Shot Put with a distance of 12.46m. Jordan Morse picked up a gold for the Bobcats in the Women's Pole Vault with a height of 3.50m.

Up next, the Bobcats' National Qualifiers will soon compete in the NAIA National Championship.
