MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 16th, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Track and Field team competed in the STU Under the Lights Meet this past weekend. The Bobcats had a successful outing at their second home meet, , finishing in first place out of four teams.
In track events, the Bobcats were consistently on top, with
Khila Darrisaw earning a solo first place finish in the Women's 200m Dash. Darrisaw finished with a time of 25.38. The Women's 4 x 100 Relay team made up of
Emma DiVeronica,
Yamina Numan, LaKeisha Manning, Darrisaw also took home the Gold at the meet, finishing in 1st Place in the event with a time of 48.24. Numan,
Wislande Pierre-Louis,
Emily Holzer, Manning earned second-place finishes in their individual events. Numan earned second in the Women's 100m Dash with a time of 12.23 while Pierre-Louis earned the silver with a time of 59.99 in the Women's 400m Dash. Manning came in second in the Women's 100m Hurdles with a time of 17.62 and Holzer earned her second place finish in the Women's 5000m with a time of 20:54.91. The Women's 4 x 400 Relay team made up of Pierre-Louis,
Ahlia Sandifer, Niecy Brown, and
Camille Barron, also earned a second place finish with a time of 4:02.16.
In Field events,
Toynelle Ming dominated, earning two first place finishes. Ming earned first in the Women's Shot Put event with a throw of 12.41m and the Women's Discus event with a distance of 38.61m.
Melora St. Fleur and
Christian Pommells followed Ming closely behind in the Shot Put, coming in second and third place. St. Fleur threw for a distance of 11.90m while Pommells threw for 10.64m.
