Box Score MESA, ARIZONA (February 1, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team dropped a tough one to #11 Hope International by a score of 11-3 in the second game of the East/West Challenge. The Royals put up four in the first inning, and stayed hot through the remainder of this one. STU is back in action tomorrow against #17 Vanguard.
 
1^st Inning

• On three hits, the Royals scored four times to open the ballgame. Royals 4-0
• With Luis Rodriguez on the base pad after drawing a walk, Angelo Piloto hit a double to center field to score him. Royals 4-1

2^nd Inning

• The Royals added another run from a balk call. Royals 5-1
• With a Royal runner on second, a single would score him to extend the lead. Royals 6-1
• In the bottom of the second, Robin Fernandez stayed hot and hit a homer to lessen the gap. Royals 6-2
• Yordielo Oneil hit a single, and after working his way around the base path, Matt Granato knocked a single to score him. Royals 6-3

5^th Inning

• Back to back doubles added another run for Hope International. Royals 7-3

7^th Inning

• Royals add two more runs off a single and a sacrifice fly. Royals 9-3

8^th Inning

• With the bases loaded, the Hope International batter draws a walk to add another run. Royals 10-3

9^th Inning

• With a man on third, the Royals hit another sacrifice fly ball to add one more run to give themselves an 11-3 victory.
