Miami Gardens, Fla. – Spring is in the air at St. Thomas, with the receiving votes Baseball team opening its 2025 season with a doubleheader against Montreat on Friday, Jan. 24 starting at 3 p.m. The following day, STU concludes their season-opening series against Montreat at 12 p.m. while the Bobcats host Keiser in a Sun Conference basketball doubleheader starting with the Women at 2 p.m. and followed by the Men.

St. Thomas kicks off the new season following a 22-30 outing last spring. The Bobcats hit .281 in 2024 with a .420 slugging percentage off 81 doubles, four triples and 47 home runs while adding 280 RBI, 219 walks and 62 stolen bases. 2024 All-Sun Conference Second Team member Angelo Piloto highlights the returning field players for STU after leading the team in RBI behind 46 while hitting .296 with 25 runs scored, 11 doubles and 11 home runs.

On the mound, the Bobcats sported a 5.39 ERA with 313 runs allowed, 252 earned, in 420.2 innings while striking out 461 batters. Reigning All-Conference Second Team honoree Carlos Polanco leads the returning pitchers after bosting 83 strikeouts in 69.1 innings over 14 appearances with 12 starts, allowing 40 runs with 33 earned off 66 hits.

Montreat opens its season at St. Thomas for the second-straight year following a 29-25-1 outing in 2024. The Cavaliers hit .290 last spring with a .495 slugging percentage off 90 doubles, five triples and 81 home runs on top of 311 RBI, 195 walks and 84 stolen bases. All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Gold Glove Team recipient Jaider Morelos highlights the returners.

On the mound, the Cavs held a 6.18 ERA last season with a 2.91 batting average against. Rya Henrickson leads the returning arms after tossing the second-most innings last spring with 53.0, sporting a 5.60 ERA with a 4-4 record.

The Bobcats (13-5, 7-1 Sun Conference) welcomes Keiser for the second leg of their home-and-home Sun Conference series after besting the New College of Florida 77-58 on Wednesday, Jan. 22. STU averages 65.6 points on a .379 field goal percentage with 45.9 rebounds, 13.7 assists, 9.1 steals and 3.4 blocks.

Jasmine Worthy sparks the offense behind 12.3 points per game on .500 shooting in eight games this season, while Joey Delancy dishes out 3.0 assists. Sophie Vandyke pulls down a team-leading 9.2 rebounds on top of 2.2 blocks with Morgan Taylor chipping in 1.5 steals.

Keiser (10-7, 4-3 Sun Conference) heads to St. Thomas after dropping a 77-61 decision against Florida Memorial on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Seahawks average 73.4 points on a .421 field goal percentage with 43.7 rebounds, 17.4 assists, 10.2 steals and 2.1 blocks.

Elise Ellison averages a team-leading 15.9 points and 8.3 rebounds while Elliana Schaefer fills out the stat sheet behind 13.7 points and a team-leading 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals. Jade Simpson boasts 1.2 blocks.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL vs KEISER

STU (7-10, 3-5 Sun Conference) hosts Keiser following a last-second basket lifting the Bobcats past the New College of Florida 85-84 on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The Bobcats average 74.7 points on a .444 field goal percentage with 36.9 rebounds, 14.6 assists, 5.6 steals and 2.6 blocks.

Esteban Lluberes uses a team-leading 17.4 points and 1.3 steals to spark the Bobcats on both ends of the court. Colin Nutter contributes a team-best 6.3 rebounds while Daniel Ogoro tallies 3.4 assists and Cearius Warren boasts 1.8 blocks.

Ranked 15 in the most recent NAIA National Poll, Keiser (14-4, 5-2 Sun Conference) treks to Miami Gardens after falling against No. 22 Florida Memorial 80-72 on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Seahawks average 81.2 points on a .463 clip with 45.2 rebounds, 16.1 assists, 8.7 steals and 4.6 blocks.

Calvin Sirmans fuels the offense behind a team-best 15.1 points and 6.4 assists, adding a team-high 2.0 steals on the defensive end. Vincent Miszkiewicz averages a double-double with 14.4 points and a team-high 13.7 rebounds on top of 2.3 blocks.
