Miami Gardens, Fla. – On the heels of their most successful showing at the Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, Head Coach
Joey Scott was named the Men's Coach of the Year while
Tonyan Beckford was crowned the Most Outstanding Performer on the Female side.
Led by Scott, the Bobcats won their first Track and Field title in school history in 2026 behind 13 gold-medal efforts. Johnathan Petit-Frere was named the Indoor Most Valuable Performer.
Being with the program since its inception in 2017, Scott took the reigns prior to the 2023-24 academic year and has elevated the Bobcats to a national contender.
The 2026 Women's Indoor Freshman and Most Valuable Performer, Beckford has posted NAIA A Standard times in the 60 Meters (7:46), 200 Meters (24:00), and 400 Meters (55:83) while being part of the 4x400 Relay that recorded it's A Standard mark at the Conference Championship. She has re-written the program record book during her first indoor season, while earning All-American status in the 200 and 400 Meters last spring at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
The Bobcats head to the Indoor National Championships at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville, Fla. on Thursday, Mar. 5 with play continuing through Saturday, Mar. 7.
