Baseball Travels To Southeastern For First Road Series

Miami Gardens, Fla. After completing a 30-game homestand, the Bobcats' baseball team is on their first road trip, as they head to Lakeland to face Southeastern University. They will play a four-game series there.

Series History
The Bobcats trail the all-time series history against the Fire, 25 to 29. The Bobcats are 1-9 in their last ten games against Southeastern, including going 1-3 against the Fire in 2025. In the Bobcat's win last year, Juan Fernandez threw a seven inning complete game, surrendering just an unearned run on 3 hits. The Bobcats are seeking their first win at Ted A. Broer Stadium since 2018. These two teams faced each other in the 2019 NAIA World Series, with the Bobcats winning 3-2. 

30-Game Homestand Recap
The Bobcats finished their opening homestand eight games above .500. As a team, they hit .317 with 29 home runs. St. Thomas pitchers' also struck out 301 batters in 248 innings. The Bobcats outscored their opponents 254-153. Daytan Biegel led the team with a 1.095 OPS and 6 HR. On the mound, Ismael Cordoba led all Bobcat qualifiers with a 1.22 ERA, and Juan Fernandez led the team with 71 strikeouts. 

Warner Recap
The Bobcats struggled last weekend against Warner, going 1-3. With the wind howling in from center field all series, the Bobcats' offense was not able to do much all series. As a team, they hit .205 last weekend without an extra base hit. They scored 12 runs over four games. A bright spot was Eddie Novoa, who went 5-for-9 with three RBI. Pitching looked good for the Bobcats, as they had a 2.91 ERA on the weekend. 

Scouting Southeastern
Southeastern enters this weekend ranked tenth in the NAIA. They are led by second-year head coach Gabe Grinder. In his first year leading the Fire in 2025, Grinder led Southeastern to the NAIA World Series Championship Game, falling to undefeated LSU Shreveport. 

This season, the Fire are hitting .300 as a team, with 33 home runs. They are led offensively by freshman Armani Cozza, who is hitting .426 with a 1.204 OPS. Dayne Wimberly and returner Charlie Collins are having good seasons as well. 

On the mound, they have a 2.89 staff ERA. Seven pitchers have an ERA under 2.00. Oregon transfer Blake Sandvik will start game one for the Fire, who has had a good first season with Southeastern. Ave Maria transfer Blake Albritton has provided strong innings for the Fire, with a 2.90 ERA primarily out of the bullpen.
