Miami Gardens, Fla. – St. Thomas University has hired
Nick Clements as its new Flag Football Head Coach, Senior Vice President of Athletics Bill Rychel announced. A dedicated and passionate flag football coach with experience developing student-athletes and competitive programs, Clements joins the collegiate ranks after turning Fort Pierce Central into a nationally ranked high school program.
"I am excited for Nick to continue to build our Flag Football program," Rychel said. "He has had a lot of success at the high school level that I believe will translate well to leading our program into a new era. His ties to the high school game, and the state of Florida will be valuable in recruiting to continue to add to our roster."
Inheriting a Fort Central team that won three games in the previous three seasons before Clements took over in 2021, he guided Cobras to 73 wins with four-straight District Champions and three-consecutive Elite Eights berths. Clements had Fort Central nationally ranked by MaxPreps since 2023 and in the USA Today Power 25 teams in 2024 and 2025. His work building Fort Central earned him Coach of the Year accolades from TCPalm and Treasure Coast on top of Coach of the Week nods from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I'm grateful for everyone who has supported me throughout my coaching journey," Clements said. "This opportunity is a dream come true, and I'm excited to begin this next chapter at St. Thomas University."
Like the team he built, St. Thomas has been a premiere program in the NAIA since its inception in 2021, clinching an at-large bid in the inaugural NAIA Invitational after advancing to the NAIA Postseason Tournament every year prior.
