DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The St. Thomas University Bobcats' tennis teams both fell short in the first round of The Sun Conference Tournament. Both the men and women's teams lost to SCAD 5-0. The men's team was the #3 seed in the tournament whereas the women were the #4 seed. In order to qualify for the conference tournament the teams had to finish in the top 4 of the conference within the regular season.

The men's team finished what was one of their most successful year-to-date. Although their record was 6-8 overall, the Bobcats were able to finish the year as the #20 ranked team in the NAIA Coach's Poll. Many of their losses were to top Division II opponents. The Bobcats shined when getting into conference play as their regular season finish dictated, finishing 3rd. The men played very well throughout the year as even some of their losses showed their talent level as they fell by close decisions to talented teams.

The women Bobcats were also able to finish in the top 4 in the conference to qualify for the conference tournament. The women finished with an overall record of 3-11 but again, the majority of their losses were to top Division II programs, as well as losses to Division I programs as they traveled to Miami Gardens to play the Bobcats over spring break. The women were not ranked in the top 25, however they did receive 7 votes as they were just on the outside of the top 25.

The Sun Conference Tournament was the end of competition for the year, for both teams. The season was successful for both teams as they were able to qualify and compete in the conference tournament. The men's team was able to get into the coach's top 25 poll and the women were able to receive votes. Both of the teams are relatively young and each will be looking to take this improvement and learning experience into next season.
