Men's & Women's Tennis Concludes Play at ITA Regionals

The St. Thomas University Bobcats men's and women's tennis teams turned in several impressive performances at the ITA Regional Championships, collecting multiple singles and doubles victories against strong competition from around the region.

On the women's side, Alicia Andres Rodriguez opened her tournament with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over Maria Hofmeister of Ave Maria University. Andres Rodriguez continued her run against Keiser University's Ofer Kivity, ultimately falling 6-1, 6-3.

Agustina Pieve also earned a singles victory for the Bobcats, defeating Bianca Carbone of Ave Maria University, 6-0, 7-5. Pieve later faced Keiser's Fredrikke Trollsaas, falling 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles action, Matilde Mio and Leticia Orlandov earned a hard-fought 8-6 victory over teammates Vivien Faludi and Agustina Pieve. Mio and Orlandov advanced to the third round, where they faced Keiser's Lena Couto and Fredrikke Trollsaas and fell 8-2.

Orlandov also added another doubles victory alongside her tournament play, earning an 8-5 win over Mariangel Nunez and Maria Hofmeister of Ave Maria University.

Maeva Samran Roguet and Alicia Andres Rodriguez also represented the Bobcats well in doubles competition. The duo secured an 8-6 victory over Camila Cardona-Carballosa and Giselle Adekunle of New College of Florida before falling 8-2 to Keiser's Ceylin Ipek and Emily Kim.

On the men's side, Aymen Jouhari put together one of the tournament's strongest individual performances for the Bobcats. Jouhari opened with a victory over Henri Wieber of SCAD before defeating No. 8 seed Alejandro Bancalari of Southeastern, 6-4, 6-4. His run eventually came to an end against SCAD's Joewyn Pascua, who earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Lucas Ibañez Martinez also earned a notable singles victory, battling past Viktor Kana of Keiser University in a close three-set match, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

The Bobcats continued to make an impact in men's doubles competition. William Rosencrantz and Jan Gewaltig opened with an impressive 8-2 victory over Parker Rowan and Felix Horstkotte of Ave Maria University before falling 8-2 to Southeastern's Piero Fernandez and Alejandro Bancalari.

Ibañez Martinez and Ivan Menendez Soto produced the strongest doubles result of the tournament for St. Thomas. The Bobcats duo opened with an 8-3 victory over Gianmarco Punzo and Andreu Soliva Bosch of Ave Maria University before edging New College of Florida's Pedro Lemos and Carlos Quinones, 8-7(5). Their run continued into the next round, where they fell 8-5 to Southeastern's Piero Fernandez and Alejandro Bancalari.

Jeremy Diaz and Alexander Sagarra also advanced in doubles, defeating SCAD's Patricio Medrano and Maximilian Grenz, 8-4, in the opening round. The pair's tournament came to an end against Southeastern's Daniel Garcia and Aristeidis Lafazanos, who posted an 8-1 victory.

The Bobcats now await to begin their spring season, the first, under new Head Coach Christopher Tissot.
