MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-The Lady Bobcats opened their 2010 season at Barry University in the form of a double header Saturday. In game one, the Bobcats started off by loading the bases with no outs in the top of the first. They were able to put two runs on the board to get an early lead.
Barry was able to match the two runs in the bottom of the opening inning to tie the game. Barry stifled the Bobcats for the remainder of the game. St. Thomas was able to keep the game close until Barry added two insurance runs in the sixth inning to go up 5-3, which was the eventual final.
As for game two, St. Thomas gotthe offense going early. The Lady Bobcats jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in part due to senior and returning all conference outfielder
Gina Guffanti’s first home run of the season.
However St. Thomas was unable to hold the lead and ended up falling to Barry, 11-9. The Lady Bobcats will look to pick up their first win of the season Tuesday night as they travel to Nova Southeastern University for a double header. The first game will start at 6 PM in Davie, Fla.
