Claremont, FL— The Bobcats softball team traveled north this weekend up to Claremont, Florida for four games in 3 days. They went 4-0 winning on Saturday 5-0 and 4-2 over Mount Vernon and Taylor University respectively. They were finished on Sunday as they took both games of a double header against Mount Mercy.
In game one of the double dip STU came out on top with a 3-1 vicotry. Amada Heyl was the star performer for the Bobcats tossing a complete game while striking out a season high 10 batters. She was strong the entire game scattering 5 hits and 1 run in her 7 innings of work. Offensively the Bobcats were able to score 3 runs on 4 hits giving Heyl just enough to pull off the victory.
Game two offensively was a completely different story as the Bobcats ended the game early with a 12-3 victory. Mo King picked up where she left off Saturday adding 3 hits, a single a double and home run, to the 4 hits she had in Saturday's doubleheader. She scored 4 runs and totaled 6 RBI in the game two victory Sunday. Cindy Castrillon, who had a triple, and Carissa Albizu also had 3 hits apiece as they joined King in leading the way.
From the circle Brenda Emerson pitched 6 strong innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits striking out 2.
The Bobcats improved to 11-15 on the season. The take to the diamond on Thursday for a double header against Wisconsin based Mount Mary College (D-III). First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm, come out and support your Bobcats Softball team.
