Game 1
Borrelli Perfect from the Plate
The STU Softball team was unable to overcome two 2nd inning runs produced by the Eagles of Biola University losing 2-0. Brenda Emerson had a solid outing from the circle pitching six innings and yielding 2 unearned runs on 2 hits.
Freshman Danielle Borrelli continues to impress from the plate, going 3 for 3 in the game with a double and a stolen base.
Game 2
Horton and Alizu's Multi-Hit Games trigger Comeback Win in Extras
Sasha Horton had the first three hit game of her short collegiate career adding an r.b.i. on the day as STU rally to win 4-3. Carissa Albizu improved her team leading .366 batting average with a 2 hit 3 r.b.i. effort in game 2 of the doubleheader against Biola.
Anther freshman, Denise Prieto pitched 5 shut out innings in relief giving up only 3 hits in addition to going 2 for 4 from the plate scoring a run.
The game entered the top of the 7th inning with STU trailing by 2 runs. Prieto got things going with a single and advanced to third on a Sasha Horton Double. Borrelli walked to load the bases, which set the stage for Albizu. She responded with a 2 r.b.i. single which tied the game forcing extra innings.
After a scoreless 8th, Horton was able to lead off the top of the 9th with an r.b.i. single. Prieto pitched a scoreless 9th to earn the win.
STU's record on the year improved to 5 wins and 9 losses on the year.
