Miami Gardens, FL— After dropping game 1 of the series on Friday night, the Bobcats got two strong pitching performances Saturday in a doubleheader sweep of Warner University giving them the overall victory in the series 2-1.   Brenda Emerson and Nikki Sanchez pitched a combined 14 innings giving up only one run in both game with the Bobcats winning 6-1 and 4-0 respectively.

In game 1 Brenda Emerson worked her way out of a first inning jam after the Royals were able to load the bases unscathed but wasn't as fortunate in the second as they strung together two hits to take an early lead.

When describing the bottom of the third inning for the Bobcats two words are applicable, Mo King.  Her single generated the first run and her prowess on the base paths lead to the second run for the bobcats.  After reaching second on heads up base running, she stole third drawing an errant throw from Warner catcher Danielle Fennimore allowing King to score.

The Bobcats did the real damage in the sixth scoring 3 runs.  Mo King came to the plate in the 6th and lead off with a blooper to center.  Nikki Sanchez followed with a single in the hole between shot and third a sac bunt by Monica Garcia moved the runners over with King scoring on a wild pitch.  Jenny Sanchez would score on a Brenda Emerson double.  Pinch Hitter Denise Prieto came to the plate and singled to right field moving Nikki Sanchez, punch running for Emerson, over to third.  Sasha Horton Kept the rally going with a single to left scoring Sanchez from third.  When all was said and done the Bobcats had scored 3 runs on on 5 hits giving Enerson a 5 run lead entering the 7th. Emerson was able to pitch a scoreless 7th to seal the victory.

In Game 2 the Bobcats offense picked up right where they left off in game 1 by scoring 4 runs in a 2 out first inning rally.  After that scoring burst Nikki Sanchez took over pitching 5 scoreless innings before making way for Emerson to pitch another scoreless 7th.

The Bobcats started out the conference schedule on the right foot with 2 victories and take on Webber on the road with a three game series this weekend.
