West Palm Beach, FL— The St Thomas Bobcats softball team traveled north over the weekend to take on the Northwood University Seahawks. The Bobcats needed to secure a series victory in order to earn the #1 seed in The Sun Conference Tournament and they did just that taking two out of three from the Seahawks.
After dropping the first game on Friday night 3-1, STU came out and outscored the Seahawks in the Saturday doubleheader 12-1 winning both games. Leading the Bobcats over the weekend was Carissa Albizu who went 4 for 10 with an RBI in each game. Freshman Sasha Horton continued to impress going 5 for 10 with an RBI and 2 runs scored and Melissa King added some pop going 3 for 6 with 3 RBI 3 runs scored and a HR, which sealed the game 3 victory for the Bobcats.
For the first time in school history the Bobcats have won the regular season Sun COnference title, co-champions with Warner, and were able to secure the top seed in The Sun Conference Tournament, which takes place over this weekend in Bartow, Florida
