SALAZAR MOVES INTO NET, BOBCATS GO 2-0

| Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's soccer team swept a pair of conference road games with a 3-1 win at Southeastern on Thursday followed by a 8-0 shutout at Ave Maria on Saturday.  The Bobcats were led by junior Christina Salazar who moved from the field into the net for her first career start at goalkeeper.
 
Salazar allowed just one goal and recorded four saves over 180 minutes of play between the two games.  The only goal she allowed was in 53rd minute at Southeastern.  Salazar went on to register 127 consecutive shutout minutes following the lone goal.
 
Salazar and the Bobcats endured multiple lightning delays at Southeastern on Thursday night before eventually coming away with the 3-1 win under soggy conditions.  Trailing 1-0 with less than 35 minutes to play, Sara Mira scored a goal in the 58th minute to tie the score at one.  The game remained deadlocked until the 85th minute when Melony Poviones scored the game winner.
 
On Saturday at Ave Maria, Salazar recorded her first career shutout as St. Thomas cruised to a 8-0 victory.  Ashley Taylor scored two goals to lead STU while Mira and Amanda Trujillo each had one goal and one assist.  In all, seven different Bobcats scored: Taylor, Poviones, Mira, Amanda Trujillo, Courtney Trujillo, Monica Lozano and Reyna FigueroaDanelle Nguyen, Melisa Camacho, and Shante Chevannes also added assists.
 
After playing eight of its first nine games on the road, St. Thomas (6-3 overall, 3-1 conference) now concludes its regular season with five consecutive Sun Conference home games.  The Bobcats host Webber International on Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a Sunday matchup with Warner at 2 p.m.
