Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The 16th ranked St. Thomas University Women's Soccer team remained undefeated by defeating Johnson & Wales 4-0 on Friday afternoon at North Miami Stadium. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 8-0-1 overall and 3-0 in the Sun Conference. Johnson & Wales dropped to 4-2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

All four of STU's goals came in the second half. Just 43 seconds into the second half, senior center midfielder Melony Poviones scored the game's opening goal on an assist by freshman Ana Parra. The goal was the ninth of the season for Poviones.

With the score remaining 1-0 for much of the second half, the Bobcats then went on an offensive barrage. In the 79th minute, senior Courtney Trujillo scored off an assist by Zelda Jagryd, the first of three goals scored in the game's final 11 minutes. Senior Sara Mira scored her team-best 11th goal of the season off a Poviones assist with less than six minutes to play in regulation. The assist was the seventh of the year for Poviones, also a team-best. Senior Amanda Trujillo found the net on a spectacular shot in the 88th minute to cap off the game's scoring.

The STU defense made life easy for goalkeeper Ariana Lorenzo as JWU had just two shots in the game and zero shots on goal. It marked the second straight and fourth overall shutout of the season for Lorenzo and the Bobcats defense. STU has not allowed a goal over the last five halves of play.

In their first three games of Sun Conference competition, the Bobcats have dominated their competition, outscoring conference opponents by the score of 15-3. A major test comes next for STU as the Bobcats travel to fifth ranked Northwood (7-1-1, 3-0) for a Sunday matinee starting at 2 p.m. This season, St. Thomas is 3-0-1 vs. ranked opponents.
