Berna Miranda leading the way with 16 points.
Jasmin Sakers and
Daniella Ciccarone each had double-doubles. Sakers led all rebounders with 15 boards, including five on the offensive end, to go along with 10 points. Ciccarone had 15 points and 10 rebounds, as well as four steals, three steals and a blocked shot.
Off the bench,
Meghan Gavin hit 4-of-5 three-point attempts for 12 points, while Desa Franklin-Jordan chipped in with 11 points.
St. Thomas (0-3) returned to action on Monday with the last of four consecutive road games to start the season with a visit to Southern PolyTech State in Marietta, Ga. The Bobcats stuck around early with the score tied 12-12 with 10 minutes to play in the first half, but SPSU went on a 15-4 run and held onto the lead from there. Miranda led STU with 13 points and five assists. Ciccarone led the Bobcats on the glass with eight rebounds. Montalvo scored 10 points, while Sakers provided nine points to go along with seven rebounds.
The Bobcats will host their home opener on Friday at 4:30 p.m. vs. Puerto Rico Mayaguez at the Fernandez Family Center.
