MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Seniors
Nicole Estela and
Kandyce Redondo were honored in pre-game ceremonies today in the presence of teammates, coaches, family, and friends.
Estela was a key reserve this season, batting .333 in 11 games for the Bobcats with an RBI and a run scored at the Spring Break Tournament in Clermont, Fla.
Redondo stepped in as the starting third baseman for the Bobcats after transferring to STU from NCAA D-I South Carolina. She hit .263 on the season with a slugging pct. of .300 and seven RBIs in 24 games played.
Before the start of game one, a bouquet of flowers and a commemorative plaque were presented to each senior by Head Coach
Jeff Norman and Athletic Director
Laura Courtley-Todd. The rest of the coaching staff and their teammates then joined in bidding them farewell as they rounded the bases for their last weekend home game at STU.
In game one of the doubleheader, Redondo hit a double to left-center and scored on an RBI bunt single by
Kristen Scott. With the score tied 1-1 the game went into extra innings, but USCB took the win with a 2-RBI double by Ally Simmons in the top of the 8th. Game two was called after five innings, as USCB swept the series with an 8-0 win.
The Bobcats resume play tomorrow, April 15, at 10am versus Thomas University.
