BOCA RATON, FLA. – St. Thomas women's tennis made their first road trip of the season to take on #6 Lynn University (NCAA-D2). The Bobcats were tasked with facing off against nationally ranked players on almost every court.
Ashley Ahern once again put in a strong performance for the Bobcats against tough opposition.
In doubles competition, #13 (NAIA)
Tetiana Kovalska and
Gabriella Bongiovanni took the fifth ranked division-two team from Lynn of Valentine Confalonieri and Iona Ivan on court one, falling 8-2. The Bobcats lost the doubles point with loses on the other two courts.
The big matchups continued in singles competition. On court one #7 Kovalska battled #1 Confalonieri in a hard fought match she would eventually lose 6-3, 6-3. Rekkedal then took on #11 Ivan losing 6-2, 6-1. Then on five Ahern narrowly fell with the match ending at 9-7.
