WOMEN'S TENNIS FALL TO NO. 7 EMBRY-RIDDLE

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – St. Thomas women's tennis kicked off Sun Conference play against seventh ranked Embry-Riddle. Though they eventually lost the match, 2-5, the Bobcats were able to pick up two singles victories. No. 7 Tetiana Kovalska and Ashley Ahern both came away victorious at home this afternoon.

STU could not win the doubles point from ERAU, losing on three courts. The top doubles match up saw thirteenth ranked Kovalska and Gabriella Bongiovanni take on no. 1 Hui-I Huang and Kristina Marova. The Bobcats battled hard but Embry-Riddle came out on top 8-5.

The Bobcats had better luck in singles competition. In the top singles match up, Kovalska made quick work of Embry-Riddle's no. 9 Huang 6-1, 6-1. On court five, Ahern fought hard for her victory, grinding out a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Taking on the Eagles #26 Marova, Bongiovanni put up a good fight but eventually fell, 6-4, 6-2, in the no. 2 singles match-up.
